Message for Lent 2025
As we journey into the season of Lent, we need to remember the reason for observing it. Lent is the 40 day period(excluding Sundays) that precedes Easter. It is meant to be a time of repentance, fasting, prayer, and personal sacrifice to prepare us for the Holy Week following Palm Sunday. It ends with the crucifixion and death of Jesus on the cross. The resurrection of Christ is the first Sunday following Lent.
While it is customary for us to give up something we enjoy for Lent, the real purpose is to get us ready for the reality of our relationship with God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During our times of study and prayer, bring to mind the sacrifice made by Jesus on our behalf. Build on this to increase your knowledge and love of God. Join with us in church to celebrate this season. We will have special services on Maundy Thursday, Palm Sunday and, of course, Easter sunrise(with breakfast) and regular Easter Sunday service. I hope to see you there.
